Nu Deco NXT
Nu Deco NXT is a youth ensemble that follows the Nu Deco model and applies it to 7th – 12th grade musicians, while also focusing on developing socially conscious and dynamic musicians through 21st Century Performance, Musical Creation, Wellness, and Leadership.
Students will have the opportunity to develop as musicians by participating in workshops and rehearsals with NXT Teaching Artists during an in-person Spring Break Intensive at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. Students will also be invited to masterclasses, Nu Deco Ensemble concerts, and additional behind-the-scenes events during the school year. The instrumentation of NXT includes all traditional orchestral instruments as well as saxophone, keyboard, electric guitar, electric bass, and drum set.
Students meet one to two times per month throughout the school year. This program is provided at no-cost to all accepted students through the generous support of the sponsors that are listed below.

Composer in Residence
Isaiah Saranow
Composer and violinist Isaiah Saranow began his musical journey strumming out-of-tune renditions of Beatles songs on his dad’s guitars. After taking up the violin at age six, he discovered his love of classical music and improvisation, and started writing his first compositions. Since then, Isaiah has received commissions and premieres from various artists and ensembles, such as pianist Maria Parrini, Nu Deco NXT, and the YoungArts program, where he was a Winner with Distinction and a Presidential Scholar finalist. His work is eclectic and stylistically variable, often aiming to synthesize his love of classical music history with extra-canonical influences, like folklore, literature, and philosophy. Isaiah currently attends the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Composition, and studies privately with eminent composer and pedagogue Bruce Adolphe.
