Nu Works Initiative

Nu Deco Ensemble is excited to continue Nu Works Initiative, our call for scores! With a mission to inspire, enrich and connect new and diverse audiences, the Nu Works Initiative will compliment the genre-bending musical experiences that Nu Deco has cultivated over its first four seasons in Miami. Composers of selected pieces will be provided with a domestic flight or $500 travel stipend for an international flight and housing in the Greater Miami area during the duration of rehearsals and performances. Composers will work closely alongside Co-founders and Artistic Directors Jacomo Bairos, Conductor and Sam Hyken, Composer and will receive hands-on experience with musicians from the orchestra during their time in Miami.  Selected participants will be featured throughout Nu Deco Marketing, Socials and Media platforms as Nu Works Initiative Recipients. Pieces will be given ample rehearsal time, will be professionally audio & video recorded and performed by Miami’s 21st-century orchestra, Nu Deco Ensemble. Selected compositions will be picked for our artistic team and performed on a full Nu Deco performance. While works to be world-premiered are encouraged and preferable, we will also accept previously performed pieces. Nu Works is also open to re-imaginings of classical pieces as well as reinterpretations of popular, non-classical and non-traditional artists and idioms as well. Check out Nu Deco Ensemble on our Youtube channel.
