Jason Matthews is a Miami-based keyboardist, composer, and producer who was born and raised in Philadelphia.
After moving to Miami and graduating from UM’s Frost School of Music for music education and jazz performance, he began his career writing and producing music with his college band The Politix, eventually shelling out into his current projects Electric Kif & TWYN. Since 2014, Jason has toured internationally as a sideman with cuban singer, Danay Suarez, British blues guitarist, Matt Schofield, latin percussionist and arranger, Tony Succar & pedal steel guitarist, Roosevelt Collier. He has performed as a soloist with the New World Symphony, Asheville Symphonyand Amarillo Symphony as well as at world class events including Montreux Jazz Festival 2018, Montreal Jazz Festival 2016, Summer Stage NYC & TED Global: Rio De Janiero 2014.
Jason has earned himself two Latin Grammy nominations for producing, writing, and engineering Danay Suarez’s 2017 LP Palabras Manuales. The album was nominated for “Album of The Year” as well as “Best Alternative Music Album” in the 2017 Latin Grammy Awards.
Recently, Jason has been recording and touring with his own projects Electric Kif and TWYN as well as performing and co-arranging for Nu Deco Ensemble.
