Gabrielle Hsu is a freelance bassoonist and contrabassoonist based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is a member of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, Orchestra Miami, and the Endless Mountain Music Festival. She is also a passionate chamber musician and particularly enjoys performing contemporary works and collaborating with living composers; most recently she premiered several new works alongside members of the Akropolis Quintet, and recorded one of the first live performances of Emmanuel Kaghondi’s A Nightmare for bassoon and ankle bells. Gabrielle is a native of Seattle, Washington and holds a Bachelor of Music from Arizona State University, as well as a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where she performed as a fellow in the Henry Mancini Institute. Her primary teachers are Gabriel Beavers, Albie Micklich, and Francine Peterson.
