Alexis Porcaro

OBOE

Alexis Porcaro is a New York City based oboist who currently resides in Miami. Alexis has had the privilege of performing with esteemed groups such as the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, New World Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and the Chautauqua Opera Company. She recently performed with the South Florida Symphony’s Masterworks IV concert series, playing Principal Oboe. During her Bachelor’s degree at Purchase College, she studied under the tutelage of acclaimed oboists James Austin Smith and Kemp Jernigan. During this time she played with the New York Youth Symphony where she performed at Carnegie hall. She continued her studies with James Austin Smith during her Master’s degree at Stony Brook University. In the summer of 2021, Alexis had the opportunity to study at the International Summer Academy of Vienna. During her time there, she participated in masterclasses led by renowned musicians Jean Louis Capezzelli and Christian Wetzel. This led her to apply for a Fulbright in Berlin, Germany, where she reached the semifinals. Alexis is passionate about performing as well as teaching. She is currently a teaching artist with the Miami Music Project, where she instructs young people in oboe and provides coaching for the woodwind ensembles.
