The Rhythm of Life and Music
Join us in the first of our series of interactive live stream performances for K-12 students! Previously broadcast live from the North Beach Bandshell, students have an opportunity to continue engaging with the orchestra by clapping, singing, and counting along. Access the concert recording, program, and quiz below!
About The Performance
This performance features both newly created and signature works of Nu Deco Ensemble and demonstrates how rhythm is not just the foundation of all music, but of life itself. Through classical music traditions, jazz influences, and popular music forms, Nu Deco presents how rhythm is the unifying factor that both connects and distinguishes different genres of music.
DIGITAL EDUCATION VIDEOS & RESOURCE GUIDES
During these uncertain times, we are committed to engaging and providing students in Miami-Dade and across the globe with high-quality performances, so we are utilizing our cinematically filmed live concert videos from Nu Deco’s past seasons to do just that! These 45-minute education videos cover various musical subjects including an in depth look at the music of selected living composers, multi-genre and multidisciplinary collaboration, and musical genres, and are accompanied by study/resource guides providing a more in-depth look at the music. Our hope is that these videos will provide your students with an opportunity to continue to engage with the orchestra, even while distance learning.
If you have any comments or would like to share any examples of your students using these tools, please email us at info@nu-deco.org. Additional digital education videos and resource guides will be shared during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Living Composers
We are thrilled to provide the first video in our Imagination digital education series, ‘Living Composers’. These composers are a voice for today’s society and produce music that is relevant, fresh, and that infuse the sounds, instruments, and genres of today. We’re excited to share this video featuring composers Jessica Meyer, Mason Bates, Aaron Lebos, Sam Hyken, Holly Harrison, and Paul Dooley and we hope that you can learn a little bit about them while being taken on a musical journey with Nu Deco.
Accompanying the video is a study guide that explores some of the musical concepts from the video in greater detail as well as post-concert quizzes based on academic level. These study guides meet the State of Florida’s C-Palms Standards. Click on the link below to access these resource materials!
