About This Show

Join the students of Nu Deco Ensemble’s youth ensemble, NXT, for a community performance featuring the ensemble’s signature reimaginations from the Weeknd to The Police, symphonic classics from Aaron Copland to Erich Korngold, a collaborative composition project, and collaboration with Miami’s own, Afrobeta!

Nu Deco NXT fosters the artistry and development of Miami’s young musicians through a focus on 21st Century Performance, Musical Creation, Wellness, and Leadership. NXT students work with Nu Deco Ensemble to sharpen their individual musicianship; expand their musical abilities through improvisation and composition; and elevate the essential skills of ensemble playing while building community and developing into the next leaders of our world.

This performance is the culmination of a week-long spring break intensive for the NXT students and will showcase all the music skills they learned through the program.  The performance will be under the direction of Nu Deco Co-Founder & Artistic Director, Jacomo Bairos, and joined side-by-side with musicians of Nu Deco Ensemble.

Afrobeta

Nu Deco Debut 7

Miami duo Afrobeta has been tearing up dance floors in their hometown since 2006. Formed by lyricist/vocalist Cuci Amador and synth-centric producer/arranger Smurphio, their mutual love of catchy songwriting, Cuban pastries, and dancing til' 5 AM, is what initially inspired them to make music together. They’ve toured internationally, performing at some of the largest music festivals and venues in the world including Glastonbury, Space Ibiza, Burning Man, Ultra Music Festival editions in Miami, South Korea, and Brazil, Camp Bisco, and Identity Festival.
