About This Show

Nu Deco kicks off a new season with our debut series of performances at The Citadel, Nu Deco Lounge! Presented in partnership with YoungArts, this two-night run of back-to-back performances at 7:00 and 9:30 PM will feature a special collaboration with a YoungArts alum: Mïrändä. The program also includes a reimagination of Bach’s “Toccata y Fuga,” Nu Deco clarinetist Mark Dover’s “We’ve All Changed,” as well as a symphonic reimagination of the music of Earth, Wind and Fire. Come enjoy dinner in the food hall, grab a drink on the rooftop, and listen to music with your favorite 21st-century orchestra!

Venue: The Citadel (8300 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33138)
When: October 6 & 7, 2023
Times: 7PM and 9:30PM
Duration: 60-minute concert
Seating: General Admission, standing-room-only

About the Venue: The Citadel, located in Miami’s Little River neighborhood, opened in early 2019 as the largest food hall in South Florida. More than just a food hall, the space includes a rooftop bar, a retail and maker space for artists to create, show, and sell their work, the headquarters of a national radio station, and an intimate performance venue. The venue vibe is a mix of black-box theater and club, with an intimacy you can only find in an underground Manhattan comedy venue. Everyone on the ground level is within feet of the ensemble, and the upper-level seating is a lounge for Nu Deco Members and Supporters that allows for free-roaming throughout the concert. Come in early for dinner and drinks, settle in for the concert, visit the maker space or bar at intermission, and hang out after on the rooftop with your Nu Deco family!

Mïrändä

Miranda by Jordan Tiberio

Mïrändä is a music producer, singer, songwriter, composer and DJ born, raised and based in NYC. Her songs are a synthesis of playful commentary and catchy pop melodies. She explores a wide spectrum of styles but her backgrounds in theater and classical violin always play a powerful role in her songwriting.

She grew up in an eclectic musical household - watching her dad perform in Country Rock bands, listening to her mom’s extensive collection of Celtic music, and studying classical violin from the age of 3 at the Special Music School.

During her sophomore year as a Drama Major at LaGuardia High School, she began writing her own songs and recording them with the help of her dad. In 2013 and 2014 she won YoungArts awards in Voice. Through their program she’s had the opportunity to perform her original music at The Kennedy Center and at Lincoln Center in a Dance/Theater piece directed by Bill T. Jones. She also starred in the HBO Masterclass Sing Your Song with Josh Groban and performed her original music alongside him at T.D. Garden and at MoMA.

Mïrändä studied Theatre at NYU Tisch’s Stella Adler Acting Conservatory and after a year she transferred to Tisch’s songwriting program at Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. It was around that time she began to dabble in music production and in 2015 released her first EP, Empire. She has grown her following organically and independently. Her listeners steadily grew after her songs were featured in popular YouTubers videos. After placing in Spotify Editorial playlists and going viral on TikTok she now has 4 Million+ streams and counting.

While Mïrändä has continued to grow her fanbase and develop her craft, she has also gone on to compose for dance and short film as well as DJ. In 2021 she composed a piece for Trainor Dance, which was performed at and inspired by the Yayaoi Kusama exhibit at the Bronx Botanical Gardens. It was then that she discovered a passion for collaboration with dancers and has since gone on to compose for numerous Dance/Poetry films as well as standard short film.
