Special collaboration featuring Estelle
Estelle
Estelle’s climactic rise from local West London MC to Grammy Award-winning international artist is a story of legend. Born the second of nine children in a strict religious Senegalese/Grenadian family, Estelle learned early to escape life’s daily pressures through music. Growing up she was exposed to African and gospel music, as well as reggae and dub, all of which have played an integral role in developing her music today into a unique, original blend of sounds from multiple genres of music.
As a recording artist, Estelle has released five solo albums and countless features and collaborations that have crossed multiple genres and generations of artists. With each album, Estelle has exposed listeners from all walks of life to a myriad of ideas, influences, and sounds from across the globe. This has led to Estelle’s position as a respected curator and tastemaker. This curation has evolved into concerts, event activations, and curated playlists. No matter the success, Estelle is dedicated to growth and evolution, giving the world quality art that they can carry into their own lives.
Nu Deco Ensemble
Nu Deco Ensemble returns to the Adrienne Arsht Center for an exciting evening featuring the genre-bending, Grammy-winning artist, Estelle. Blending elements of R&B, hip-hop, reggae, and soul, she continues to captivate audiences worldwide as a prominent voice in music. The program will also feature a Nu Deco original composition alongside Stravinsky’s iconic Firebird Suite, followed by a brand-new suite that re-imagines Prince’s legendary Purple Rain Album.
Since its inception in 2015, Nu Deco Ensemble has exploded onto Miami’s eclectic musical scene captivating audiences, holistically engaging with its community, and fusing innovative, genre-bending orchestral performances and collaborations with the highest levels of musical artistry. Called a “chamber orchestra for the 21st century” by The New York Times, their performances have featured artists including Wyclef Jean, Allen Stone, Macy Gray, Monsieur Periné, Jacob Collier, and Ben Folds; reimagined orchestral suites of the music of Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, and Aretha Franklin; symphonic masterworks from Bernstein, Stravinsky and Gershwin; and new music from some of today’s most exciting living composers.
Thank you to our supporters who helped make this performance possible!
