Aric MacDavid

BASSOON

Aric MacDavid is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and composer currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Shortly after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound, Aric won the principal bassoon position with the Northwest Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra based in Tacoma, WA. As a freelance musician, Aric has played with notable groups such as the Cincinnati Symphony, Seattle Opera, and Pacific Northwest Ballet, performing under the baton of prominent conductors such as Gerard Schwarz, Emil de Cou, and Ludovic Morlot. At Frost, he is a Henry Mancini Institute Fellow and a teaching assistant for the Musicology Department. He currently studies under Gabriel Beavers. 

Well-versed in genres outside of the classical sphere, Aric is also a jazz saxophonist/woodwind doubler and has had engagements with groups such as the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and A Touch of Brass. He also is an accomplished composer and arranger whose ambitious arrangement of “Pure Imagination” is available on all music streaming platforms.
